Day 1: Mattole to Spanish Creek
This is where we camped the night before beginning our hike
This is the southern terminus of the trail where we left our car and met our shuttle
Our shuttle was a rock and roll ride through the mountains with this gal
Off we go!
The first of many diftwood structures folks have assembled over the years
Even though this is a remote wilderness area, there are a handful of holdever private structures and homes that are still there
An abandoned lighthouse
Sometimes there was no beach at all and we hade to hike up on bluffs
The weather was quite warm. This fellow is using his pack to create some shade for his dog
Not long after this picture was taken, as we rushed between waves to get past the outcropping, this section was impassable
