Near Overton, we temporarily disconnected the trailer and headed up a steep dirt road to the top of a Mesa ...
Up on the mesa, a reclusive distant relative of Ray's, Michael Heizer, created a strange land sculpture several years ago. It is called "Double Negative." You can learn more about it here
We came across the Pahranagat National Wildlife Refuge very late in the evening. It was totally dark, but camping was allowed so we pulled in. Imagine our delight the next morning upon discovering where we had ended up!
Moving on, we soon came to an intersection with the Extraterrestrial Highway which runs near the mysterious Area 51 and Groom Lake. We saved all that for another day, but did stop long enough to take this picture
There are several old towns out in the Nevadan desert. It is hard to understand how they survive. This one is Caselton.
We stayed next to a lake at this state park near Caselton. Being so late in the year, we were the only people there!
