The North
We were able to camp on the shores of Gold Lake at an undocumented Forest Service campground ...
... and were graced by an unexpected visit from these lovely, and hard-working, FS workers who tuned up our fire pit for us
There are no water, power or sewer hookups at Forest Service campgrounds, so one needs to gather water on the fly, as we did at this highway rest stop
Burney Falls (129 feet) State Park where we spent a night
Mount Shasta
A beautiful park along the way where we had lunch and went for a hike
We made our way northward to nearly the Oregon border so we decided that it was time to hunker down within the insulated walls of our trailer ...
... and, sure enough, we had snow when we woke up in the morning
This is a Natural Wildlife Refuge just south of the Oregan-California border
And this is a lava debris field
We dodged a few storms
We crossed the Pacific Crest Trail a second time and went for a short hike, encountering cached water for hikers along the way provided by local trail support folks
We spent a night at Whiskeytown National Recreational Area at a reservoir frequented by boaters (an entirely different crowd)
and then headed west towards the coast with Mount Lassen in the background ...
... finally arriving at a state park in the redwoods where we dropped the trainer and spent two nights
