The Coast

Leaving our trailer behind for a day, we made a 100-mile loop along the coast that is way too difficult for RVs, but which starts, oddly enough, in the gingerbread town of Ferndale, where we spent an hour, in the middle of nowhere

Then we got started on one of the most remote and scenic roads in North America

These are hermit crabs we found in great numbers along the shore

The road includes the starting point of Ray and Peter's Lost Coast hike in August 2007

... and ends back where we had left our trailer in the redwoods

From there we continued down the coast ...

... camping near this lovely couple from China one night ...

... and spent on our last night at this very secluded sate park frequented mainly by abalone fishermen
