2009 Vietnam Tour
After four nights in the Hanoi/Halong Bay area, we flew down the coast to Hue for two nights and then proceeded a bit further down the coast by bus to Hoi An, a popular tourist area, with a brief stop in Danang along the way
The first order of business was to visit the huge Citadel of Hue, built in the early 1800's
While at the citadel, we were entertained by this musical group
We also visited the Dong Thien Pagoda Monastary, built about 1601
Later we visited a cemetary for eunuchs ...
... with a separate plot for "unknown eunuchs" ...

Downtown Hoi An
This bridge is a UNESCO World Heritage Site because it was the border between Chinese and Japanese powers during the 16th century. It is called the "Good Luck" bridge.
As we went out to visit the ruins of a anciet culture, we encountered this funeral for a 87 year old man. Many of our group joined in (!) while Ray took photots in the little village. The fierce looking fellow in the red costume is the funeral director.
When we first arrived at the ruins from the Champa Empire (2nd - 15th century), we were briefly entertained by these performers and then proceeded to the ruins ...
