Stage 10: Croatia, Slovenia, Istria and Trieste, Italy

A two hour train ride from Zagreb took us through more farm lands and flooded areas to Ljubljana, the capitol of Slovenia.

This is the view from our hotel room.

We spent two nights in Ljubljana to wash and rest up, so the next day we spent a long time going through this lovely, small town ...

The following morning we took a train to Koper, Slovenia. We had trouble understanding what this car on the train was all about, but finally figured out it was a baggage/freight car of some kind.

After we arrived in Koper, we hired a taxi to take us to Istria, a special peninsular area of Croatia and then back.

We then caught a bus to Trieste, Italy. Along the way we met this lady who lives in Trieste, teaches English in Slovenia, and hails from Dawson, Yukon Territory, in Canada. She helped us locate our hotel.

We spent most of the afternoon visiting the highlights of Trieste.

The next morning we continued our walking tour of Trieste as we made our way to the Avis location in the harbor where we rented a car for the Italian and Swiss portions of our trip.
